No Plateau: A New Decade in Painting

Current Emily Carr students Tiffan Breen, Mark Butler, Ian Edmonds, Liz Jackson, Brian Kokoska, Rupert Nuttle, Mitch Speed and Angela Teng exhibit No Plateau: A New Decade in Painting.

For the exhibition, the collaborative curatorial team of VAN & Associates has considered the history-burdened field of painting. Using the format of the typical painting group show in which many painters are shown with no commonality other than artist’s chosen medium, No Plateau draws attention to the artists’ insistence to navigate the process of making a painting, developing in practice a model for thought.

Opening reception: Wednesday, February 10, 2010, from 6pm to 9pm
