Vice President Academic + Provost Office
Emily Carr is an exciting learning community in visual arts, design and media arts. From credit and non-credit courses to graduate studies, whether in face-to-face or online interactions, our students are engaged in a diverse community of talented individuals involved in a creative and stimulating environment. Part of what makes Emily Carr so vibrant is the passion with which faculty, staff and students pursue their creative projects and the way they examine their practice and are involved in renewal, change and self-reflection.
We have recently created new Faculties to reflect our new university status and to support new curriculum and research endeavour. The Faculty of Culture and Community, the Faculty of Design and Dynamic Media, the Faculty of Visual and Material Arts, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research bring together artists, designers and academics committed to making our students' experience rich and rewarding. While the Faculties are intended to facilitate work across mediums and technologies, as a structure, the Faculties also promote the development of new courses and programs that reflect the fluidity of contemporary practice in art, design and media. New streams such as Illustration cross between Faculties and new courses such as Community Projects directly link the Emily Carr community to local, national and international partners.
In addition to providing information about courses and programs, our web site introduces you to the resources that support our academic programs such as the Writing Centre, the library and the Intersections Digital Studios (IDS). IDS is a research facility equipped with the latest technology for motion capture, stereoscopic imagery and for two-dimensional and three-dimensional prototyping.
We encourage you to visit this site frequently to keep abreast of changes at Emily Carr University of Art + Design and we hope that you will join us at our campus located on Granville Island, an award-winning site of urban renewal in Vancouver on the beautiful West Coast of Canada.
