Unclassified Student Status

This category of student is for practicing artists or designers interested in taking a limited number of credit courses for their professional development or education purposes.

  • All Applicants must have completed their senior secondary education in a program that would qualify them to apply to a college or university.
  • Applicants without formal college or university art education will be restricted to 100 level introductory courses only where space permits, up to a lifetime maximum of of 12.0 credits.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed a minimum of 18.0 credits of introductory studio art courses plus 12.0 credits of introductory academic courses at a college or university will be permitted to take 100 and 200 level courses where space permits, up to a lifetime maximum of 12.0 credits.
  • Applicants who have successfully completed a two year diploma in visual art or design at a college or university will be permitted to take 100, 200 and 300 level courses where space permits, up to a lifetime maximum of 12.0 credits.

Admission is based on an assessment of official academic transcripts. Applicants for whom English is a second language must also meet the University's English Language Proficiency requirement. Unclassified students are not eligible for student financial assistance.

Fall (September intake) - June 15

Spring (January intake) - November 15

Summer (May intake) - March 15

Visiting Student Status

This category is available to students interested in studying for one semester. Applicants must be presently enrolled in a visual art or design degree program at another accredited post-secondary institution. Visiting students must apply as per the regular degree admission procedures and deadlines.
