Drawing
Integral to many other disciplines at Emily Carr, the drawing area covers a range of approaches to support students in their manual, optical, and intellectual abilities in drawing. Traditional observational methods such as life drawing, with a wide selection of models, and other figurative and perspective projects are complimented by experimental assignments, drawing for narrative, memory, abstraction and, conceptual methods for drawing from ideas.
Students develop confidence, knowledge, skill, and material exploration and are encouraged to experiment with a variety of techniques, tools, drawing media, papers, and other supports. Presentations, workshops, critiques, and discussions compliment production time. Students respond to a combination of assigned and directed projects. At the senior level, students may progress to increased emphasis on self-directed projects.
