The fourth guest in our series is Lyse Lemieux. Born in Ottawa, Lyse Lemieux is a visual artist currently residing and working in Vancouver. She has exhibited nationally and internationally since 1976.

Lemieux’s artistic practice is often described as one focused on drawing, balanced between figuration and abstraction. Whether working in small (and until very recently, private) notebooks, on sheets of arches paper, or across the 60 foot “page” of a gallery wall, Lyse’s working process is inseparable from the forms she creates, which are almost always in reference to the human figure. She often claims unexpected materials–echoing of the body–such as found clothing, latex rubber and medical tape, and speaks of three-dimensional drawing, “drawing” as much with black felt and dressmakers shears, as with ink.
