This new campus recognizes the vital role that Emily Carr plays in the creative economy – and the importance of universities offering post-secondary education in the arts, media arts and design. The new campus will have numerous positive economic benefits for the Province of British Columbia and will drive creativity and innovation in BC and Canada while supporting the future growth of the creative sector. The creative industries are expected to contribute $793.1 million in GDP/year by 2030.

VISION + STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS
As the only specialized art and design university in British Columbia, Emily Carr's vision is to be internationally known as one of the top global schools for its undergraduate and graduate programs in Media Arts, Design and Visual Arts.
- Our new campus will allow us to enhance our multi-disciplinary environment where
learners, community members and industry partners learn applied approaches to
creative problem solving, within a project oriented curriculum, that covers all aspects
of the creative sector and the creative industries;
- Our new campus will allow us to expand our dynamic curriculum and be even more
responsive to the changing conditions of knowledge production, industry innovation
and technological change, and will support excellence and innovation in teaching and
learning;
- Our new campus will cultivate and strengthen community and industry participation in
the creative sector and will advance the use of new technologies to improve the
quality, effectiveness and efficiency of creative learning environments;
- Our new campus will be built to the highest standards with design features unique to
the mandate of the university, that is inspired by design excellence and that promotes
an integrated, comprehensive and sustainable approach to the goals of the university;
- Our new campus will create an imaginative and cost-effective urban landscape that
forms the centre of activities for Great Northern Way.
