  • Emile Rubino: Photography Books Index
    Nov. 6-30, 2012, in the Library Mezzanine Gallery

    This installation is composed of pages coming from three discarded photography books indexes found at the Emily Carr University Library book sale. Those books, which were published in the 1980s at a time when photography was expanding in a significant way, were a response to an obvious need and desire to index all of this production in the most exhaustive manner. Today with the digitalization of indexes and the new complexities introduced in the medium of photography, these indexes belong to another era and are being discarded.

  • The library is hosting an artist residency by 3rd Year Visual Arts major Meaghen Buckley this semester. The Libraries Within Libraries Project is an art/research project devoted to sculptural, performative, collaborative, and textual explorations of the library as a concept, as a community and as a particular space.
