As an artist with a background in urban planning and archaeology, Kara Uzelman works with scavenged materials exploring the possible histories embedded in found objects. Her growing body of work has consistently evaluated the object’s potential for alternative sources of meaning, constructing pseudo-historical narratives for discarded items through collecting and assemblage. Her process-based sculptures and site- specific installations have been shown internationally in both group and solo exhibitions

Through a variety of forms - including drawing, print, ceramics, sculpture and installation - Babak Golkar’s subjects of research have emerged from his interest in spatial analysis in relation to contemporary human conditions. Golkar has generated a practice steeped in the juxtaposition of disparate traditions and by extension, new forms and meanings emerge from re-contextualization.

Jeneen Frei Njootli is a Vuntut Gwich’in artist and a founding member of the ReMatriate Collective. In her interdisciplinary practice she uses media such as performance, sound and textiles. Much of her work deconstructs the history of the materials she uses. She investigates their relationship to trade, ceremonial regalia, and the politics of First Nations art. Her work is now in the Vancouver Art Gallery’s permanent collection.

Raymond Boisjoly is an Indigenous artist of Haida and Québécois descent who lives and works in Vancouver. His work investigates technology, Aboriginal identity, the relationship between text and image as well as the limits of the visible. He is an Assistant Professor in the Audain Faculty of Art at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

Rebecca Brewer’s paintings bridge figuration and abstraction in fresh, unexpected ways. Her works have addressed such influential figures as Joseph Beuys and Ayn Rand, often prompting viewers to reconsider the intellectual legacy, meaning and worth of such personalities. At the same time, Brewer’s sensitive use of colour, shape and line evokes the histories of abstract painting and the ways that palette can be used to express personal identity, opinion or intuition
