2009 Grad Awards
The 2009 Grad Awards were selected Friday, May 1, 2009, by a prestigious jury including alumni Daina Augaitis (83), Chief Curator/Associate Director of the Vancouver Art Gallery; Attila Richard Lukacs (85), acclaimed Visual Artist; and, Rod Roodenburg (88), co-founder of Ion Design and 2008-2010 President, Society of Graphic Designers of Canada.
The following graduating students were recognized:
- Katalina Gurerrero received the Mary Plumb Blade Award Endowment (painting or printmaking)
- Hamza Vora and Raneen Nosh received the Circle Craft Award (ceramics)
- Kitty Blandy received the Contemporary Art Society of Vancouver Emerging Artist Award (visual arts)
- Zain Burgess received the Helen Pitt Award (Vancouver Foundation) (painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing or photography)
- Rena Del Pieve Gobbi received the Winsor Gallery Graduate Student Award (Master of Applied Arts)
- Ellen Lee received the Farmboy Fine Arts Graduation Award (communication design, industrial design or photography)
- Raneen Nosh received the Aritzia Graduation Exhibition Design Award (excellence in visual design for fashion, illustration or in multi-disciplinary approach to design.)
- Julian Andrew Lawrence received the Sophie Burnett Memorial Award (achieving the highest grade point average in the Media Arts Program)
The following students received Honourable Mentions:
