ECI Alumni Sweep the 2007 VADA Awards

The Visual Arts Development Award (VADA) is a Vancouver Foundation initiative, administered in partnership with the Contemporary Art Gallery, to assist the growth and development of British Columbia's visual artists. The award offers opportunities for exploration in new techniques or processes to emerging or mid-career visual artists and artisans from all cultures who are working in traditional or contemporary media or techniques.

Seven of the fourteen 2007 awards were presented to ECI alumni! Congratulations to:

Eric Deis (99), Collin Johanson (04), Sasha Krieger (05), Scott Massey (03), Gailan Ngan (01), Laura Piasta (06)and Elizabeth Zvonar (02)

This year's jury was comprised of award-winning ceramicist, Paul Mathieu, ECI faculty member, Jen Budney, curator, Kamloops Art gallery, and ECI alumni, Sonny Assu (02), Babak Golkar (03), and Vanessa Kwan (04). Golkar and Kwan are also past VADA recipients.
