Ruth Beer
Bio
Ruth Beer is an Associate Professor of Visual Art and Assistant Dean of Resources and Collaborations. She is an artist, researcher and educator who is interested in interdisciplinary approaches to these practices. Her most recent work uses sculpture, photography and video to investigate the interrelationships of objects and spaces. She has an extensive record of exhibitions including solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries in Canada, UK, United States, Japan and China. She is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of the Arts and is a recipient of several Canada Council Visual Art Grants and public art commissions and SSHRC Research Creation Grants for interactive art installations. She has a PhD from UBC where she examined the relationship of contemporary visual art practice, pedagogy and ideas about mapping geographical and cultural transformation.
