Marilyn Cherenko is an Associate Professor in Animation. She is a Vancouver-based independent animator working in traditional and experimental techniques since 1978. Her films include Omnibus, and Bridging the Gap, a National Film Board vignette, an award-winning, camera-less animation, Pursuit/Flight, a 2D animation called About Face, a documentary entitled The Best Things and most recently, a pixillated short, Path. Most recent screenings: Sept 18, 2008, Ottawa International Animation Festival [Path and About Face were screened as part of the program called Looking For A Place to Happen: Vancouver]. Her work blends her interests in painting, drawing, music, and dance into reflective, animated shorts that have been shown at numerous international festivals. She is interested in story as the search for meaning.
