Jim Andrews
Bio
Jim Andrews has been publishing vispo.com since 1996. He is known for his work in interactive poetry, generative art, and interactive audio. Recent work includes Aleph Null, an online interactive, generative work, and dbCinema, a graphic synthesizer and langu(im)age processor.
He teaches mobile app development and takes a cross-platform approach involving the following tools. Phonegap is a locally-developed product that supports the development of mobile apps using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. jQuery Mobile is a 'framework' for creating mobile apps with JavaScript/HTML/CSS. Phonegap gives us basically three things: access to the accelerometer, compass, GPS system, file system, camera, and other mobile hardware; also, it lets us compile JavaScript/HTML/CSS projects for distribution on iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Bada, Windows Phone, Symbian, and some other platforms; and it lets us develop mobile apps that have *parts* viewable in a browser on the desktop.
