Irene Schmid
Bio
I'm Swiss/Austrian and grew up in Geneva, Switzerland. Back then I spent a lot of time exploring the Alps and also got an MA in Economics. I proceeded to work for the International Red Cross and the United Nations for 15 years in over 15 countries. When it came time to settle in one place I picked beautiful Vancouver and came to Emily Carr to get qualified as an Industrial Designer.
I work at the intersection of industrial design, interaction design and architecture, with a particular interest in health care. My goal is to work collaboratively on innovative health care design projects with other designers, engineers and health care professionals. My past life has given me extensive insight into inter-cultural dynamics as well as lots of team and project management experience.
When I'm not working you can find me in the backcountry on skis or in a kayak...
