Barbara Choit
Bio
Barb Choit received a BFA from ECUAD, an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts, and an MA in Curatorial Studies from Columbia University. She has exhibited internationally and nationally. Her work has been reviewed in publications such as The New York Times, Artforum, and Canadian Art. Venues for her latest solo exhibitions include bautzner69, Dresden; Rachel Uffner Gallery, New York; and Cooper Cole, Toronto. Her recent book, Ten Shows, was published by the Or Gallery, Vancouver and Black Dog Publishing, London.
Choit’s work deals with organizing and documenting her personal collections of objects and images. She presents items such as broken dishes, faded Patrick Nagel posters, t-shirts emblazoned with the word "attitude,” and amateur eBay product photographs. Her current series of photographs depict vintage shoes shot in the style of the 17th Century Dutch "Pronkstilleven." Read more about the project here: http://nyti.ms/1JjQyRO
