Sincerely Slow

description

This fourth year graduation project began with the realization that time was in control of our lives. In collaboration with Nicola Fuller, we became aware of our fears of wasting time, of running late, and of being unproductive and began to realize that time was in control of our lives. We found that society was dominated by the desire for speed in all areas of life. Food, fashion, travel, exercise, and so much more were all being experienced far too quickly. We began envisioning a world where the rhythms of life were slow, harmonious and provided them better opportunities for happiness. Defining the problem space lead us to developing this question: “Can communication design provoke behavioural change in the Vancouver community that slows down the fast paced lifestyle?”

Sincerely Slow challenges society’s dominant desire for speed in all areas of life by envisioning a world where the rhythms are slow, harmonious and provide better opportunities for happiness. It will introduce the community to a new kind of belief around lifestyle that asks people to not obsess over time and enjoy each passing moment. By interacting with our website (http://sincerelyslow.com), and following @sincerelyslow on Twitter and Facebook, people will be motivated to make small, positive behavioural changes in their life that are inspired by the slow living movement. We believe slow is the future and it is only a matter of time before the public realize its potential. In the meantime, they will contine to add content to their website and look forward in sharing their knowledge with the world and learn from others with how they live slow. We hope to slow down the world, one community at a time.
