"Me Looking at You Looking at Me" Event Invitations

description

objective : This project took on many forms. At this stage the event had to be marketed to office workers. The challenge was to build preciousness into what was essentially in the end just another advertisement.
This was accomplished through:
Silk screening and hand threading each invitation, making the invite small and wrapped up as well as placing them in unpredictable but noticeable spots, including attaching it to each elevator button.

outcome :  The invitation was slowly distributed to the office workers around 333 Seymour Street a week prior to the event. I acted as a representative of VANOC’s Cultural Olympiad (because that’s the only way people would talk to me). The day of the event tiny 2 by 2 signs were placed in areas only available to the workers. The idea was that they would only be seen after a great appreciation and comfort within the space. The invitations themselves were designed with the old flipping trick where two images merge when spun. The hope was that in a moment of weakness, somewhere tucked away in their office they would flip the invitation and smile.
