ANIM 314: 3D Character Creation

This course covers the creation of 3D computer graphic characters for animation, from character development and concept art to final model with textures, hair, clothing, facial details and basic rigging. Students will explore prototyping strategies that integrate design with the creation of moveable characters, and follow modeling principles and techniques for producing an optimal geometry flow that supports advanced sculpting and texture painting, and prepares the model for rigging and animation. The course emphasizes the flexibility of 3D character production pipelines and teaches students the technical and design considerations of using multiple software packages.
