Painting Studio is a self-directed course which is intended
to provide support to students who want to work on
independent projects. Students will have individual guidance
from the instructor and will also benefit from group
discussions and critiques. In addition to addressing technical
issues, students will have the opportunity to further develop
their ideas and personal approach to painting.

Prerequisites: 

Any 100-level painting course or equivalent is required; 200-level painting experience is strongly recommended

Please bring the following supplies to class:

* Stevenson's oil paint (recommended), or acrylic or watercolour
paints in the following colours (plus any other paints you may
have):

  - Titanium white
  - Ultramarine blue
  - Pthalo blue
  - Quinacridone red
  - Azo red light
  - Azo yellow light

* 1 12"x18" acrylic or glass palette (glass is easier to use but
is more expensive)
* 3 flat brushes: Acryloil (at least #1 or #2 and #8)
* 1 palette knife (trowel shaped - not flat), metal or plastic
* 1 can odorless mineral spirits (or equivalent materials for
acrylic or watercolour) - 940 ml or smaller
* Rags and metal containers with lids

BRING IDEAS, DRAWINGS, OBJECTS, PHOTOGRAPHS AND SUPPORTS (CANVAS,
ETC)

Note: Photocopy/printer cards can be purchased at vending machine
outside the Emily Carr cafeteria.
