Painting Open Studio is a self-directed course which is intended to provide support for work on independent projects. You will have individual guidance from the instructor and will benefit from group discussions and critiques. In addition to addressing technical issues, you will have the opportunity to further develop your ideas and personal approach to painting.

Any 100-level painting course or equivalent is required; 200-level painting experience is strongly recommended

Please bring the following supplies to class:

* artist grade acrylic paints - basic colours: black + white,
cool and warm reds
* at least 3 brushes: flat, round, detailed; natural + synthetic
bristles
* 1 palette or palette pad
* 1 500ml acrylic medium (matte)
* gel medium
* 475 ml gesso
* 1 2B pencil
* 1 palette knife
* rags
* 1 water container
* 1 2" or 3" brush (Conda)
* 4 16"x20" or larger painting surfaces (bring one to 1st class)
* 1 sketchbook
* 1 1" roll Masking Tape
- Optional: other paint colours, different mediums, other brushes
or tools, oil pastels
