FVIM 326: Advanced Film Production

This third-year course is designed for students who want to work effectively with a crew as well as those interested in incorporating industry standard work practices in their productions. Production planning and professional set etiquette are at the heart of this course. Students will breakdown a short script, create a schedule and a budget, and participate in an instructor-led dramatic shoot where students will learn how to function in all key crew roles - directing, assistant directing, camera, sound and lighting - as well as build on their knowledge of continuity and blocking.

This course will cover the entire production process from script development to distribution. Each student will develop and produce a short film in a genre of their choice, collaboratively or on their own: Drama, documentary or experimental. This course is highly recommended for students who are planning to make a film for their 4th year degree project.

Priority is given to IMED students in Years 3 and 4. Students outside of the registration priority group may register/waitlist for this course as of the registration rule release date.
