FVIM 410 S001: Senior Media II
This senior studio course acts as a forum for the critical and artistic development of Film, Video + Integrated Media students completing their grad projects. A high level of self-directed activity is expected, along with active participation in peer group and class discussion, presentations and critiques. The focus of the course will be on refining the grad projects on an aesthetic, technical and critical level. Peer group support is key to this development, along with individual meetings with instructors and presentations of the work to the class.
NOTE: This course will become a 6 credit course in Fall 2012

Dennis Burke has been an Associate Professor in Media Arts at Emily Carr University of Art + Design since 1987. Among his many activities at Emily Carr, Dennis has developed a series of courses that investigate the creative possibilities of sound in Design, Media, and Visual Art practice. In addition to his administrative and teaching duties Dennis' research interests center on acoustic communication and the relationship of sound to the moving image.
Dennis is an multi award-winning composer and sound designer for film and television with over 100 films to his credit. His work can be seen regularly on network and cable television, film festivals, galleries and commercial theatres world wide. Dennis has been a professional musician for the past 30 years, performing extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Peg Campbell has been directing and producing award winning documentaries and narrative films since 1975. Her films have received international acclaim, winning awards at the Genie's, Banff International Television Festival, Melbourne Film Festival, Yorkton Short Film Festival, Northwest Film and Video Festival and the Information Film Producers of America. They have been broadcast on CBC, PBS, WTN, A&E, The Movie Channel and educational networks.
Peg represented Canadian film producers during the negotiations for the Mexican-Canadian Co-production Treaty in 1990 and was invited to Mumbai, India to speak on film education at Frames 2002.
In 2009, her latest film, Your Mother Should Know, was awarded ‘Most Inspirational Film’ at the Reel2Real International Film Festival for Youth, won a Legacy Award at the Women in Film and Television International Film Festival and was nominated for four Leo Awards. It will screen on the Knowledge Network in 2010.
