Global Cinema and Animation

Works by Jia Zhangke (China), Koji Yamamura (Japan), Claire Denis (France), Denis Cote (Canada), Ming Wong (Angst Essen = Eat fear, Singapore), Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis, France/Iran), Lucrecia Martel (Argentina) will be screened. In addition, works from Hong Sang-soo, Korea (Virgin Stripped Bare of her Bachelors), Karima Zoubir, Morocco (Camera/Woman) and a diary film from Israel will be considered. Topics to be explored will be political economies of global media, globalization, convergence, national cinemas, media aesthetics and contemporary auteurs.
