PRNT 317: Digital Print Projects

This is a project-based course that focuses on the integration of historic print media processes with contemporary digital output methods. Ways of combining a digital matrix - a computer source file - with a physical matrix - a plate, a stone, a screen, or a block - will be explored. Demonstrations, assignments and self-directed projects will allow students to develop skills and develop personal approaches. Readings, lectures, research, tutorials, and critiques will provide a forum to critically examine the role of print media in contemporary visual culture. Familiarity with the Adobe CS suite is expected.
