Interaction Design Essentials

Interaction Design Essentials is a 6-month, intensive full-time program which blends design principals with technical skills training. You will exit this program with a certificate as well as a portfolio of work created throughout the program. Interaction Design Essentials is ideal for students who are interested in learning the fundamentals of interaction design with the intention of gaining employment in that field after graduation.

Program Details

Program Length            24 weeks split into two 12 week terms.

Program Schedule       September 23, 2013 - March 28, 2014
5 days per week, Monday – Friday: 3 hours per day

Tuition includes a copy of the Adobe CS6 Master Collection which will be available for download at the start of classes (see MacBook Specifications).

*If applying for Employment Skills Access (ESA) funding, application fees will be waived based on applicants meeting eligibility requirements. If you are successful in receiving ESA funding, all tuition, supplies and software costs will be covered.

Application to the program is on-going and acceptance into the program is on a first come, first served basis.

 Each course within the program focuses on the development of your conceptual and technical skills, giving you an understanding of the processes involved in contemporary interactive design and digital media practice. Courses focus on specific skill development pertaining to employment in the field of Interaction Design. This skill development includes:

Design for mobile devices
Design for the Web using Photoshop and Illustrator including mock-ups and optimisation
Graphics Design for the Web using Photoshop and Illustrator
Web sites development using C++ 
Acquire working knowledge of  html5, PHP and JavaScript
Building Mobile CSS Styles
Learn the basics of wireframes, site maps and userflows
How to lead effective projects and work in teams
