The Leeway | Studio + Community
Grow your practice in a multi-disciplinary, resourced studio space for artists and designers.
The Leeway is a community studio space where artists and designers can explore new techniques, work among peers and learn from experienced instructors through demonstrations and workshops. Access to professional equipment, tools and materials as well as support from knowledgeable technicians allows Leeway members the freedom to experiment and create.
The Leeway is an ideal place for artists and designers to cultivate their creative practice within the Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
Become a Member
Membership to The Leeway includes unlimited access to the studio, technical support, equipment and resources, storage and more. Join us for a month, a term or a whole year and work alongside our studio resident and peers. For more information on membership benefits, studio space and cost, visit our become a member page.
Each term, The Leeway invites an artist to work in The Leeway through our studio residency program. Our members have the opportunity to work alongside an established artist and our studio resident also speaks to students about their work at formal events.
The Leeway Studio Residency program is intended to support and advance the work of guest artists and designers by providing access to the facilities, tools and resources available in the Leeway, as well as to enrich and enhance the creative activity within the Leeway and Emily Carr community at large.
The deadline to apply for the Fall 2015 Studio Residency is July 31st. Visit slideroom.com to submit an application!
The Leeway hosts open studios and workshops throughout the year for both members and non-members. Join us for a free event, register for a workshop or visit us next time you are on campus to see the space.
