Research and Industry Office

Launched in summer 2006, Emily Carr's Research and Industry Office is focused on expanding research innovation, building industry alliances, and customizing internships for Masters students. The RIO is also designed to help graduate students and faculty identify innovative research projects and global collaborations, strengthen grant submissions, and source research team members.

A key focus for the RIO is repositioning Emily Carr in the eyes of the community and internationally, in particular showcasing the changing role of the applied arts and today’s technically sophisticated creators. Emily Carr will continue to open its doors to national industry-based events and to bring leading professional talent to campus for knowledge exchange.

Corporations are seeking world-class talent in visual arts, media arts and design. Through our powerful network of corporate and non-profit alliances, Emily Carr is well positioned to craft collaborative industry-academic projects with lasting impact in the arts and technology. The Research and Industy Office also places students in the best internships available in the applied arts and assists human resource departments in identifying the best students and recent graduates for exciting new jobs.
