Description:
Project Space is a book shop, publisher, programming space and studio run by OCW Arts & Publishing Foundation in collaboration with Project Space Studio. As the possibilities inherent to digital space become increasingly infinite, the roles of physical and print spaces are being redefined. Project Space examines, challenges and supports this redefinition process by presenting print and in-person projects—including a curated selection of publications, exhibitions, workshops, lectures and readings—for artists, designers, writers, curators and publishers. Our shop features a curated selection of art, design and literary publications with a focus on those that are rare, independent, small-run, limited-edition or locally-produced.
We are located at 222 E Georgia St (at Main), next to Access Gallery and across the street from 221A Artist Run Centre.

Job Duties and Description:
Project Space is seeking self-motivated and bright individuals for Spring/Summer co-op positions that will run from May-August 2012. Co-op students will work at the space 3-5 days a week from approximately 1pm to 6pm to assist with:

Running the bookshop / project space

Organizing and facilitating Project Space's programming (such as exhibitions, openings, workshops, readings, launches and special events)

Administration related to the bookshop and our various projects

Maintaining our online shop and contributing to various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr)

Co-op students will receive discounts on books and programming, as well as mentoring and resources from Project Space's Directors and Committee Members.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would be—

passionate about publication and either contemporary art, design and/or literature

excited about Project Space, its programming and the opportunity to work in the space

reliable, resourceful, self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work independently

excellent at collaboration, cheerful and outgoing, with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn new things

experienced in working with the public and comfortable making conversation with customers/visitors to the space

skilled at using Word, Excel, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Wordpress

skills such as writing, editing, photography, videography, graphic design, industrial design, web development or grant writing would also be assets

non-profit or retail experience would also be an asset
