How To Apply
Process and Procedures for Emily Carr Students
You must submit:
- A completed application [PDF, 994k]
- An essay/letter of intent with budget
- A portfolio of 10-15 images on CD, DVD, USB or website (or a three-minute video on DVD)
You do not need to submit a transcript.
You do not need to request reference letters from faculty for your initial exchange application at Emily Carr.
No more than two applicants per institution will be selected, so it is recommended you indicate a second choice of institution.
Exchange is for one semester only. Exchanges at the fourth year level are not permitted.
Researching Partner Schools
It is important that, as an applicant, you show that you have carefully researched your proposed exchange destinations. Catalogues from partner institutions are kept at the desk of the Assistant in International Education and may be checked out for limited periods. Most institutions also have informative sites on the Internet. A list of participating institutions is available on the ECU Students on Exchange page.
Selection Process
Applications will be ranked for exchange selection on the basis of GPA. The Student Exchange Committee will review the candidates; portfolios will be reviewed at this stage for lower ranked applicants.
All programs will limit the maximum number of students that may be out on exchange in any given semester.
The selection process is usually completed by mid-February.
Host institutions have the right to final approval of candidates and many schools have a competitive selection process. Admission is not guaranteed.
