The Show at Emily Carr University Preview Night 2013

On May 3rd, friends and supporters of Emily Carr University were given the opportunity for a “sneak peek” of the Grad Show at Emily Carr as a special thank you for their generous support.

Donors and Sponsors chatted and mingled with industry, faculty, staff, and graduating students showcasing work in The Show at Emily Carr.  Emily Carr President + Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ron Burnett, spoke briefly on the importance of donor support for the university, particularly looking ahead to Emily Carr’s new campus at Great Northern Way.  Ray Schachter, Associate Counsel, from Alexander Holdburn Beaudin + Lang, LLP, the presenting sponsor for The Show also addressed the crowd to speak about the long term support the firm has provided for this annual event. Guests then previewed the diverse and impressive collection of work by graduating students in Visual Arts, Media and Design.

Thank you once again to our all our supporters for making The Show possible.

Donor Recognition Reception 2012

May 4, 2012

We were delighted to honour Emily Carr University of Art + Design generous friends and supporters with a lively celebration at the Granville Island Hotel!

Our esteemed donors enjoyed chatting and mingling with faculty, staff and Emily Carr’s award-winning students. At the heart of the University lies the passion and creativity of our students and without the amazing support of our donors, we would not be able to provide the education and services to successfully prepare graduates for life as a professional artist, designer or media practitioner. A wonderful example of the caliber of talent Emily Carr fosters is Luke Parnell, pictured left with Brenda Crabtree, Aboriginal Program Manager. Luke is a recipient of the Winsor Graduate Student Award and the RBC Emerging Aboriginal Artist Award.

Following the reception, guests previewed the diverse and impressive 2012 Degree Exhibition. It was a lovely evening and we sincerely enjoyed the opportunity to thank our donors, in person, for their generous support!

Chancellor's Twilight Reception

September 8, 2011

John C. Kerr, Chancellor, Emily Carr University of Art + Design and Martha Sturdy (78) hosted a wonderful reception to celebrate the beginning of Emily Carr’s 86th school year.  We have the privilege of igniting the passion of budding artists and designers, fostering the intellect of gifted minds, and encouraging the development of confident innovators, so it was with great pride that the accomplishments of students and alumni were shared with friends and supporters of Emily Carr.

We want to thank Martha Sturdy and David Wardle for generously opening their home and we would like to thank our kind friends and supporters for sharing a beautiful start to another successful year with Emily Carr University of Art + Design.
