Restaurant Identity for a Thai Restaurant

description

The challenge centred on the disconnect of the restaurant from the local neighbourhood which is known for its cultural hybridity and contemporary aesthetics. The opportunity for addressing this was to re-brand the restaurant to evoke Thai culture and the neighborhood characteristics as a destination restaurant. The restaurant in discussion is a Thai Restaurant located in Mount Pleasant, a diverse and artistic neighbourhood in Vancouver.

The keywords for the restaurants are: fun-loving, and friendliness. The restaurant is renamed as "Himmapan". The Himmapan is a forest located between the heaven and earth according to Thai mythologies. Illustrations of the Himmapan creatures were made based on the style of graffiti found in the neighbourhood.

The Canadian Association of Fine Arts Deans (CAFAD) is an organization dedicated to the growth of Fine Arts education. The scope of this project required a complete redesign of the CAFAD identity and print and web components.

The concept behind my design is the idea of generating conversation and transparency within the arts education community. The overall visual aesthetic reflects the dynamic discussion the circulates within the organization and the arts community.

Canadian Association of Fine Arts and Design Branding Design

The Canadian Association of Fine Arts Deans was seeking for a brand + identity redesign. Third year students of Emily Carr University was given the opportunity to individually create a concept branding solution for the institution.

The final iteration was a trademark consists of linking letters expressing the concept of a collective of the dean, faculty and students that collaborate together as a larger whole. The letter f in the wordmark symbolizes a connecting point and joining energy that this collective produce.

This school project consists of final deliverables including a logo redesign, business card, letterhead, envelop and concept website.
