Jio-Hu (酒狐): A Sake Bottle

The shape of this sake bottle is inspired by an old Chinese folktale (ghost story) that my grandma used to tell me when I was little: In the ancient time, when it was very late at night, intoxicated man often got possessed by fox spirit who disguised herself as a beautiful woman with a wide-brimmed rain hat. The drunken man would take her home, and in the end, he would be eaten by the fox spirit.
The requirement of this project was to model the object on Rhinoceros 4.0 and afterward, oursource/ 3d print, and assemble the components together.
PING (枰): A Coffee Tray

It can be difficult to enjoy a healthy light meal in between busy schedules in today’s fast-paced urban environment. Balance is the solution for the on-the-go lifestyle. PING provides a perfect vessel for a quick and healthy meal. The flowing form at once allows easy wielding with a single hand while providing a perfect space for food and beverage. An elegant, ergonomic form converges with sheer practicality, PING is an evocative object that encourages diners to slow down for a proper healthy meal.

It is a little known fact that the first extra-american expansion that Starbucks made was into Vancouver where the company set up a small shop inside Waterfront Station which happens to stand on the base of Granville and Cordova Streets. Vancouver boasts a voraciousness for coffee matched only by its neighbors in Seattle. Reverence for this humble bean is definitely a west coast thing.

The piping bag has existed in kitchens for ages and is generally known to be an implement used mainly by skilled pastry chefs. They always require two hands which inhibits the ability for fine detail or gestural drawing technique.
STÂGE: Kitchen Knife + Sharpener

The knife is the undisputed essential kitchen gadget. However a blade is only as good as its edge. Sharpening is usually neglected when the sharpener is not immediately accessible, or misplaced. Stage is an innovative kitchen knife that seamlessly integrates the fundamental practice of sharpening into the food preparation experience within a single compact tool. Stowing the sharpener within the knife handle provides quick access to a proper sharpening tool and negates the need for separate storage. The smooth transition between sharpening and cutting with a user-friendly design provides for a better overall cutting experience.
