This is the ideal course for students seeking an introduction to the manual operation of a 35mm camera and basic black-and-white darkroom techniques. The course includes principles of exposure, use of natural light in photographic imagery, film processing, enlargement techniques and the machine processing of prints.

* 1 35mm manual film camera
* 1 Paterson 2-reel film developing tank 
* 8 - 10 rolls 35mm film, 400 ISO (T-max or Ilford)
* 10 sheets 35mm plastic negative preserver pages
- 1 #2 Opus soft paint brush
- 50 sheets 11" x 14" Ilford black/white photo paper (RC Glossy)
- 25 sheets 8" x 10" Ilford black/white photo paper (RC Glossy)

**Items marked with * should be brought to first class.

**Please wait to purchase photographic paper until after
the first class**   More paper may be necessary, depending on
your projects.

Photocopy/printer cards can be purchased at vending machine
outside the Emily Carr cafeteria.

NOTE: In order to minimize disruption, students are expected to
arrive at class a minimum of 5 minutes prior to the designated
start time.  If possible, please notify your instructor ahead of
time if you expect to be late or absent.
