description
While art and painting have emancipatory potentials for animals they also have dangers. Consider, John James Audubon’s use of dead birds as subjects for his lively paintings, Damien Hirst’s sculptures, and the impact that painting has had on the hierarchy of what we value in nature.
Less valued is the art of copying, or repeating through imitation. However, this illustrates the ability to learn. In repetition and in sharing knowledge there is always a degree of variation and variation provides the fuel for creativity and change.
