Tickets will be available at the door. $15 for both screenings or $10 for either Program A or Program B.

Chancellor John C. Kerr Reappointed

The Emily Carr University of Art + Design Board of Governors, in association with the Emily Carr Alumni Association, are delighted to announce the reappointment of Chancellor John (Jake) C. Kerr for a second term.

Chancellor Kerr is the University's founding Chancellor; his inaugural appoinmtent commenced in 2008.

Students + Alumni Featured in The Cheaper Show No.10

The Cheaper Show celebrates its 10th birthday this year, and features the work of 40 Emily Carr alumni and students in this massive one-night art event.

All 200 works in the show sell for a uniform, affordable price. The aim - to remove barriers between talented emerging artists, established artists, buyers, curators, gallery directors and collectors, and create new channels for engaged interaction. The show has a mandate to feature 75% local artists, based solely on their artistic merit.

Emily Carr's co-operative education program integrates classroom learning with periods of paid work experience to enable students to apply their knowledge and skills. Students receive credits toward their degree for successfully completed work terms.

Eat St. iPhone App | Emily Carr's SIM Centre partners with Paperny Films and Invoke Media

The Eat St. iPhone app debuts today, April 4, in conjunction with the Food Network's launch of the television series, Eat St. later this week.

The idea for the mobile app emerged from a brainstorming session between Emily Carr's SIM Centre and Paperny Films on how social media could be used to enhance viewer experience. The app was then developed by Invoke Media.

Users will be able to access information on vendor locations, menu, hours of operation, photo's, reviews and a Twitter feed (@EatStTweet) in Vancouver, and major cities throughout North America  – from your TV to your phone and into your belly. Get it while it’s hot!

Ministry of Advanced Education Minister Naomi Yamamoto Visits Campus

Emily Carr welcomed newly appointed Minister of Advanced Education, the Honourable Naomi Yamamoto, for a campus visit March 31. 

No stranger to art and design, Minister Yamamoto was the president and owner of Tora Design Group in North Vancouver for 21 years. She's also served as past president of the Gordon and Marion Smith Foundation.

The Minister had an opportunity to meet with faculty, staff and students, and take a tour of the campus.

We look forward to working with her.

Summer Institute for Teens

July 4 – July 29, 2011

Spend July in Emily Carr’s studios and labs on Granville Island! The Summer Institute for Teens is an intensive art and design program for teens aged 15 – 18. Enjoy four weeks of hands-on studio practice, access to the most cutting-edge equipment and instructors, plenty of experimentation, in-class critique, visits to local galleries and a public exhibition of your work!

Students will develop both a portfolio and a set of core skills in preparation for post-secondary training in art or design. Choose from one of these nine studio options:

Emily Carr Supports Earth Hour

Earth Hour began in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change.

In 2010, a record 128 countries and territories joined the global display of climate action. Iconic buildings and landmarks from Asia Pacific to Europe and Africa to the Americas switched off. People across the world from all walks of life turned off their lights and came together in celebration and contemplation of the one thing we all have in common – our planet.

Earth Hour 2011 will take place on Saturday March 26 at 8:30pm. Emily Carr is committed to Earth Hour - please join us and show your support.
