Congratulations to Emily Carr Industrial Design students and their SFU collaborators for winning the top two prizes in Canada's national undergraduate ergonomics competition.

Two groups of students from last year’s DESN 323/423 class submitted papers to the Annual Association for Canadian Ergonomics conference in Kelowna.    

Current fourth year students Ashley Nawrot, David Westwood and Adrien Guenette (along with Amanda Bremmer from SFU Kinesiology) won the top prize for an undergraduate paper in Canada with their presentation Watersport Gloves: A user trial.

Riley Nicholson was one of the five students whose eggs survived the drop from the 2nd floor balcony. Alexandra Phillips challenged foundation students in Visual Arts 3D to make something, using only toothpicks and hot glue, that would protect an egg from breaking.

A Fine Young Man has just been awarded the Alberta Spirit Award for Best Short Film at the Calgary International Film Festival. Congratulations, Kevan!

A Fine Young Man, a short film written and directed by 4th year student Kevan Funk, has been selected to make its world premiere at 2010 Toronto International Film Festival. The film will be screening as a part of the Short Cuts Canada program. The film has also been selected to screen at this year's Vancouver International Film Festival.

1612 Gallery is a graduate student-run exhibition space at Emily Carr University of Art + Design.

1612 Gallery exhibits art projects that are initiated by current graduate students of visual art, media, design or related fields like curatorial practices, writing and more. The exhibition space presents works and projects that are current, relevant and offer an open dialogue for advanced students of art. 1612 is a non-commercial opportunity for graduate students to meet and experiment with ideas, situations and practices that test the resilience of the gallery space.

Malaspina Printmakers is pleased to present Six Pact: New Print Art a juried exhibition of new work from students of Capilano University, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Kwantlen Polytechnical University, Langara College , University of British Columbia and University of the Fraser Valley.

The Games are Open, a project by Berlin-based artists Folke Köebberling and Martin Kaltwasser, is a massive project in both scale and ambition.
