“Playing With Shadows” is a series of photographs that demonstrates creative use of light and darkness in pictures. It was a collaborative project between Estefania Hernandez, Heather Mitchell and Della Ma; the setting, lighting, and theme was designed by all members. The nature of this project involved interchanging roles between art director, model, and photographer.This set of photographs were taken by Estefania Hernandez.

Billig

"Billig" the DIY Desk Lamp

Made out of a single piece of cardboard that folds up into your pocket Billig allows you to transform a bike light into a simple desktop lamp. The simple instructions are made available online for anyone to use.  Billig which is Swedish for "cheap" is a play on the IKEA sterotype of furniture.

Node - Ideration 1

The first ideration of project 'Node'.   A study light made out of sugar - a sustainabily sourced product, to create a sustainably sourced (DIY) light for communal study/design spaces such as ECUAD.  The light runs with a Pomodoro Timer to help the user track and stay focused during study times (which the user sets for themeself)

Collaborative project with Wood-Coop on Grandville Island to design a cost efficient light that could be flat-packed and assembled by the user using Aircraft Plywood. The components were to be processed on a C.N. C machine and bent in tension.

Bloom Pendant

A soft translation of an orchid into an abstract pendant. The subtle light that comes from this pendant allows it to be quite universal in your home being suitable for bedroom, kitchen, or living areas. The fine attention to line and weight transcend into a form that evokes calm and relaxation.

Lithium

description

A ready to assemble desk lamp that uses photovoltaic cells, otherwise known as solar cells, to store energy in lithium-ion batteries for light.  No hardware or glue is necessary as the parts are tension fitted.  They can be assembled in a matter of minutes and can be flat packed for delivery.

Components were produced by a CNC machine and a laser cuttter.
