Current 03 Design Research Journal
description
Current 03 is the third edition of Emily Carr University of Art + Design’s Current Design Research Journal. It is a multi platform design journal that showcases creative, practice-based and applied research. For this 52 page publication, I worked along side a team of 12 designers. My role as a photgrapher was to create photographs to be used for the print and interactive publication and as a print designer was to produce conceptual spreads/layouts.
Wardrobe Rehab Magazine

This magazine is an introduces slow fashion in an approachable and engaging way through a series of interviews and articles. The opening pages describe what fast fashion is and its consequences, as well as practical ways to reduce our wardrobes negative impact. The latter half of the publication is comprised of two interviews and an in depth view of their personal style and closets. To bring this publication to life, I combined fabric textures, vibrant colours, and editioral photography.

Current 02
description
Current is Emily Carr University's academic journal with the intent of demystifying the design process. The journal is designed, edited, produced and marketed by undergraduates in communication design with article contributions from students in both the graduate and undergraduate programs, alumni and faculty. As an Art Director, I was in charge of the design and production of the second issue of Current, putting special emphasis on creating a visual language that was energetic and professional, reflecting the enthusiastic vision of the featured authors and Emily Carr's ongoing passion for design and its practice. I also photographed and designed the cover.
Photos of My Friends
description
Have you ever wanted to say things about your friends that you've always wanted to say? This Summer, I photographed the people I know in Vancouver and wrote their obituaries. I also took the opportunity to properly document the places we hang-out. As I am currently broke, without funding to publish this book, it sits on my hard drive. I'm considering turning the entire series into a well curated website and continue to add Photos of My Friends. Does this sound like a good idea?
Applied Arts
description
Our world is becoming increasingly urbanized and interconnected. YVR Airport served as a relevant backdrop for articles about global thinking, information overload, the ethical responsibilities of designers, and the possibilities of working together. The images taken, typographic selections, colors, rules, etc. are all abstractions of the content written within the articles. Images are placed to challenge our perceptions of space and to illustrate the scope of our current global situation. The content provided for me by Applied Arts spoke of the future.
Sight & Sound
description
This book takes the two vital parts of senses, and seeks to find the interrelations between graphic design and music. Many elements of graphic design are akin to the elements found in music: technical aspects such as line, space, scale, colour, grids and patterns can be paralleled with elements of music such as pitch, rhythm and dynamics. With this unique correlation, we were able to give form to musical elements or translate music back to the graphic. Each grouping of the design pieces throughout the book tells a definite narrative that reflects the era and country to which it belongs. A group project with Vince Lo, and Eunji Choi.
CURRENT, Emily Carr University Design Journal
description
In 2009, I held the position of Editor for the innaugural issue of CURRENT Design Journal; a student run publication focusing on design research and process published by Emily Carr University. Editorial decides what articles make the cut, selecting correcting spelling and grammar, word count, and other modifications to get an article press ready.
In 2011, I currently hold the position of Chief Editor, for the second annual edition of CURRENT, the case studies issue.
