Drawing 200
DRWG 200 F001
What was particularly challenging about this
project?
Trying to draw in the style of someone else, yet still trying to be
myself. I also found it hard to try and put my whole process together, it was
expensive and a bit stressful
What was the most interesting or rewarding aspect of
this project?
The whole process of trying to be as exact to
another artist as possible. I was trying to take the role as Jim Dine. It gave
me a broader look at approaching my work as an experience.
What do you particularly want to have discussed
about your work during this crit?
Maybe how I tryied using techniques and approaches
to draw like Jim dine, yet tried to morph it to my own drawing.
Completed after the crit:
Whant was the most useful information you gained from this
crit?
That you should never be unconsciously driven by your
influences. You should be conscious of everything around you and how and why it
affects you.
What questions or concerns about your work remain after this crit?
I wander if Elizabethıs assessment of this work will be
different than what it would have been if she was here in person viewing it.
Vjeko Sager: Assessment of the Final Project by Gordie
Scott:
Terms: 4/5 I think Gordie made lots of efforts to meet
criteria, maybe lacking the opportunity to introduce personal statements
Concept: 5/5 I think his process was excellent, as he
tried to mimic the nuances he learned about Jim Dine, For example, he went with
his girlfriend to Victoria Hotel and sketched initial sketches, same as Dine
(working in hotel rooms)
Technique: 5/5 Gordie mimicked as close as possible the
use of materials and techniques by Dine
Creativity: 3/5 I think this is the part where Gordie
failed to respond to the concept, being ³over-influenced² by Dine
Presentation: 4/5 Work was presented verbally, without
process sketching and/or other supporting materials
Mark: From my
perspective Gordie gained (solid) B+ for this project
