Project 05 – Post-media Painting (20%) – individual project – 3 weeks

In the last project students are asked to make a painting that is product of media aesthetics. They will use computer to make an artwork, which will be translated into a painting.

This project intends to make students conscious & explore how to use digital technology in combination with traditional painting methods.

Research / Process

Make a digital artwork and print it; paint over the print; scan and continue working in the computer; repeat this process several times.

Decide on materials & techniques and produce a painting that has “media aesthetic” flavor

Production

Find a way to replicate digital effects using traditional materials

Find alternative ways of applying & manipulating paint

Project Presentation (up to 10 min.)

Present the process (from digital to analog and viceversa)

Explain your concept (methods & techniques)

Make a short statement on new media versus traditional methods
