Writing For Picture Books (CEIL 125)

Explore the writing processes for many genres of picture books - including board books, early readers, wordless picture books, illustrated books, comics chapter books, middle grade and young adult - in this interactive course. After examining a brief history of each type of book and studying both traditional approaches and current trends, you will learn established techniques to write for each genre. You will also experiment with writing each type of genre yourself through writing prompts and workshopping to help you find the genre best suited to your writing voice.

Instructional Hours: 24 hours (8 classes, 3 hours per class)

Additional Hours: up to 24 hours for independent study and practice, assignment completion and homework.
