Introductory Letterpress Techniques (CEPR 109)
This course introduces letterpress printing techniques. Learn to hand-set type, mix ink, and use printing presses in this hands-on, technical course. Working with a selection of wood and metal letter type and ornaments, you will produce text compositions and editioned prints using Vandercook cylinder letterpresses and proofing presses. From traditional typesetting methods to contemporary typographic and print-based applications, letterpress techniques can build on and enhance drawing, typography and publication design practices.

Instructional Hours: 24 hours (4 classes, 6 hours per class)
Additional Hours: 24 hours for independent study and practice, assignment completion and homework.
