Independent Projects: Metal Sculpture (CESC 280)

This open studio course provides seasoned and advanced metalworking students and artists access to Emily Carr’s Metal Shop facilities. Further refine your skills and knowledge of contemporary metal sculpture practices and all the techniques and processes needed to make sculptural metalworks. Vetted and approved self-directed projects can be realized with assistance offered throughout the creative process by both an instructor and studio technician. Access to facilities requires prior and consistently demonstrated knowledge of safety and best practices and may include access to the foundry where bronze and aluminum can be cast into two-part sand molds. Students are responsible for costs of materials and should discuss their project goals with the instructor and/or technician. Please dress appropriately in studio work clothes and closed toed shoes.
