En Plein Air: Discovering the City (CEFA 011)

Explore Vancouver’s dynamic and varied urban spaces in this introductory plein air course. Students will learn about the pleasures and restraints of making in the outdoors, including location scouting, materials, observation and recording. Using simple drawing and/or painting tools and techniques, students will create studies of local architecture, urban gardens and city landscapes. Join us and discover exciting compositions and perspectives within Vancouver’s unique urban environments. Led by a local artist and educator, this course offers self-guided or small-group tours, alongside virtual discussions.

Instructional Hours: 12 hours (4 classes, 3 hours per class)

Additional Hours:
up to 12 hours for independent study and practice, assignment completion and homework.
