Submit your previous academic transcript(s) and/or English language proficiency test score on EducationPlannerBC

When uploading your documents to EPBC:

  • Double check your document(s) prior to uploading; once your EPBC application is submitted you are unable to delete, make edits, or add additional documents. You can upload your previous academic transcript(s) to EPBC only once.
  • If you have transcripts from multiple institutions, combine these into one document prior to upload (i.e., all post-secondary documents combined into one document).
  • Do not upload portfolio items to EPBC. Your portfolio must be submitted through Slideroom.

If you are accepted to ECU, you will receive instructions later for submitting your official document(s).

Applicants must provide their academic transcript(s), educational records of past academic performance, to be considered for admission.

LANGUAGE: Transcripts from non-English speaking educational institutions must be submitted in the original language with an additional official certified English translation.

ASSESSMENT: Foreign documents may need to be assessed by an evaluation service, like World Education Services (WES) or International Credential Evaluation Service (ICES). Graduate Admissions will contact you if the documents require further assessment.

English Language Proficiency

If your first language is not English, regardless of immigration or citizenship status, you must submit an English language proficiency test score.

Graduation from a recognized degree program at an accredited university at which English is the language of instruction can result in an exemption. Official transcripts must be submitted for exemptions to be considered. We reserve the right to request a test score even if an applicant meets the above-mentioned criterion.

A list of English language proficiency tests accepted by Emily Carr University:

Minimum overall score of 185 with a minimum score in each skill as follows: speaking 185; reading 185; writing 185; listening 176

Minimum level of 80 across all band descriptors.

Minimum overall score of 185 with a minimum score in each skill as follows: speaking 185; reading 185; writing 185; listening 176

Minimum score of 115

Minimum band 7.0 including a minimum score in each component; Speaking 7.0, Reading 7.0, Writing 7.0 and Listening 6.5.

Minimum level of 81

Minimum score of 66

Minimum of 90 out of 120 points including a minimum score in each of the four skills; Speaking 22/30, Reading 22/30, Writing 22/30 and Listening 20/30.
