FAQs

What is a portfolio?

Every university will have slightly different requirements for their portfolios. You can review these on each individual website above. In general, we want to see your best most recent work that shows us who you are as an artist or designer. You can bring images on your laptop, originals, photographs - we just want to have a conversation about your work, give you some tips and feedback so that when you decide to apply, you can put together a strong portfolio for the admissions process.

What should I expect?

When you arrive, you should expect to go through security at Canada House. Please bring your photo ID and a ticket and come a little early! Anyone accompanying you (friends/family) will also need to be registered, or they will unfortunately be unable to join you. There will be representatives from the schools reviewing portfolios - you may have to wait in line, but the opportunity for feedback is valuable. There will also be a presentation about the schools and the benefits of studying in Canada.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes. As Canada House is a government building, it is important to bring photo identification, as you will go through security. Arrive a little early to make this a smooth process! All persons attending the event (including your friends or family) must be registered in order to pass through security.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

You can email Casey Hinton, from OCAD University at chinton@ocadu.ca with any questions. Refer to the institution website to review portfolio requirements.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is not required that you have a printed copy, simply recommended. If you do not have a printed copy, please show us a digital copy. And don't forget your photo ID!

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

No. Every person attending this event (including any friends or parents, even if they are not having a portfolio reviewed) must be registered for this event. Canada House is a government building and everyone will have to go through security and have their registration checked along with a photo ID.
