Please join us for the launch of Blackie Schwartzkopf's ABC of Being and Time by Laura Lamb at Libby Leshgold Gallery and READ Books.

This launch is presented as a part of the current exhibition at the Libby Leshgold Gallery It's difficult to put a painting in the mailbox: Toward new methods of artists' publishing and presented by READ Books and Publication Studio Vancouver.

Blackie Schwartzkopf's ABC of Being and Time is an illustrated alphabet which has emerged from the artist's long-term project chronicling a community of traveling players, (some human, some almost human,) and their struggle to live and create authentically in the face of freedom, responsibility, meaninglessness and death. Blackie Schwartzkopf, their cryptic impresario, has constructed this alphabet incorporating references to Expressionism, political pamphlets, children's book illustration, and more, beginning with A for Acts of Apparent Incredulity and ending with Zenith, passing through Strange Songs, eXistence, and Utopia on the way.

Laura Lamb is an artist who enjoys the modernist mythos. She has created bodies of work in video and photography, which have been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally. Laura lives and works in Vancouver.
