The Emily Carr University climate cut is a student-led initiative to help mitigate negative impacts of climate change by donating 3" of hair to the San Francisco based eco-industry hub Matter of Trust, where human and animal hair are used to make mats that clean toxic oil spills. Learn more here and see the video at the bottom.

This event is 100% online, free, and can be joined by anyone in the world. Hair snips will be going LIVE November 30 at 11:30 am PST. Come join an online movement by cutting 3" or more to reduce carbon footprint by 30%, and keep warming global temperatures under 3 degrees.

To join, simply register for this event, and sign up at MatterofTrust.org's global eco-community platform TheHumSum.org to receive the closest mailing address to send your, your family, your dog, cat, bunny, llama or emu's hair!

EVENT CHECKLIST:

1.) Register and follow us on social media for eco tips leading up to the event!

2.) Register at thehumsum.org to receive the mailing address closest to you location. (Students and faculty of Emily Carr, a drop box will be provided on campus, so this step is not necessary).

3.) On November 30th at 11:30am (PST) get your scissors, measuring tape/ruler, brush for your pet, and anyone in your bubble for an online action against climate change!

4.) Show off your snippings and drop them in a Ziploc bag with your name and city on it to show a Matter of Trust where the donations are coming from.

5.) Mail your envelope to the HumSum address closest to you (ECU students and staff can use drop off at school).

So get your scissors, open your computers, and get ready to trim those quarantine locks to help heal the planet!

Feel free to participate, come watch for fun, or get your bubble involved and cut each others hair! Please note this event will be recorded.
