The Libby Leshgold Gallery and READ Books are excited to announce the launch of the online project Publishing the Present: An Archive of Mutual Care and Action.

Publishing the Present is an ongoing archival project collecting independent publications that respond to this contemporary moment of international urgency. Produced by Wendy’s Subway as part of their online residency, the site, designed by Ritu Ghiya, gathers these publications as an incomplete and evolving document of the present.

Wendy’s Subway is a non-profit library and workspace located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Envisioned as an open, versatile space where cultural production flourishes through reading, research, and collaborative practice, and manifests in performance, publication, and education, WS hosts a range of public programs, including interdisciplinary readings and screenings, talks and lectures, discussion and reading groups, writing workshops, and free courses. Its non-circulating library holds a collection of books and documents with a special focus on poetry, art, theory, and philosophy, as well as the Raiken Archive, an extensive resource for the study of art history and criticism.

WS is operated by its membership of 30+ poets, curators, novelists, artists, and critics with an interest in hybrid forms and cross-disciplinary discourse.

WS also houses Blonde Arts Books, a blog, curatorial project, and bookstore focusing on independent publications about and by artists and small presses.
