Born in November 1973, Suresh Eriyat is a 1997 graduate of the National Institute of Design. Specializing in animation film design, Suresh came to Mumbai looking for opportunities to make animation films. Prospects of creating animated stories in India back in 1998 was very nascent, as animation was more known for the back end services that Indian companies offered foreign studios. In collaboration with Famous Studios, Suresh set up Famous House of Animation in 1999. Through that landmark venture, he created numerous animated ads, shorts, and music videos with many firsts, which brought not only national and international recognition, but also changed the way people perceived animation in India. In 2009, he started Studio Eeksaurus with his wife Nilima as his partner. From there, he continued to elevate the recognition of quality Indian animation content across the globe. Eeksaurus is also a very well-known advertising film production company that is among one of the top few in India. In 2005, Suresh won the first ever Annecy Cristal for India, the President's National Award in 2016 & 2018 for best animated film, along with winning more than 300 national and international awards for his works, with a portfolio of more than 400 films. Suresh has sat on several prestigious jury panels, such as Clio, Apollo, LIA, Promax, Adfest, and Krok, and has educated students and aspiring filmmakers across India. He is also a trained Carnatic musician, and an artist with a deep interest in philosophy, anthropology and culture.
