Dream Fields presents an interactive exhibition showcasing selections from the Print Collection at the ECU Library + Archives, while highlighting approaches to the management of its materials. This exhibition is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration that brought together printmakers, curators, collections managers, art historians, librarians and archivists, where we discussed the following questions:
- What information do printmakers and artists need to search the collection?
- What resources do information professionals need to manage the collection?
- How can these perspectives work together to increase meaningful access, both online and in-person?
The interactive exhibition is an extension of the colloquium conversations, and we invite attendees to participate in answering these questions with us.
The exhibition includes works by Albert Besnard, James Coignard, Edward Curtis, Hiroshige, Kuniyoshi, Keiko Minami, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Hilla Rebay, Ben Shahn, Jack Youngerman, and others. It explores themes on collection description and management, including understanding processes and labour, sharing content and context, using effective terminology and display, and increasing accessibility and creative access.
This exhibition is made possible by the support of SSHRC
